ÖCSÖD-KOVASHALOM Fragment of a vessel decorated with red paint after firing on the dark burnished surface. Import of the Sopot ll-Bicske II culture from the level of the classical Tisza culture. H: 7.2 cm [45] integrated into the Herpály-Csőszhalom cultures in the north and the classical Tisza culture in the south. The absolute chronology of the Tisza culture and thus also of Öcsöd is still subject to vehement debates. This issue is strongly related to the controversies over the absolute chronology of the South-East European Neolithic and Copper Age, and the discrepancies between the so-called historical and the carbon chronology, involving also issues of whether the tell cultures of South-East Europe should be seen as the result of local development or whether they evolved under Reconstruction of a vessel decorated with red slip and fine incised lines. Probably an import from Transylvania or the Banat. Classical Tisza culture.
