In 1913 he participated as an employee in the building of the "Catholic House" designed by the architect of the Szombathely Diocese, József Metzner, and in 1915 in the building and planning of the Pózva prisoner-of-war camp on the edge of town, with all its sad memories. In the second year of the war he was enlisted and as a soldier began to write a diary in the land of his parents, from which we can learn of the work of an architect squadron and a remarkable illustration of the middle-class mentality of the age. Tamás Morandini knew how to and enjoyed taking photographs. His grandchild, and thanks to a donation the Göcseji Museum, possess several of his photographs. After his death in 1921 he was given a civic funeral with all honours. Today the memories of Bálint Morandini and Román Morandini, as well as his son, Valentin Morandini, are preserved in Lendva (Lendava, Slovenia), Csákvár and Várasd (Cakovec and Varazdin, Croatia).
