A kisújszállási Jermy Gusztáv természetrajzi szertár és múzeum 287 Albert Tóth THE JERMY GUSZTAV NATURAL HISTORY COLLECTION AND MUSEUM IN KISUJSZALLAS One of Hungary's most famous collection of natural history can be found in Kisujszallas in the Zsigmond Moricz High School (Moricz Zsigmond Gimndzium). The founder was Gusztav Jermy a scientist and teacher who took his degree at Vienna. The collection was established in 1856. Since then it is continuously growing by donations. Among the famous bestowers were politicians, writers and scientists. The Hungarian Royal Institute of Geology {Magyar Kirdlyi Foldtani Intezei) and the Hungarian National Museum (Magyar Nemzeti Muzeum) significantly enriched the collection as well. The collection has an old herbarium of thousand pages. The highly protected valuables enclose the Sadler herbarium (1823), some over 100 years old bird preparations, corals, shells, shell-snails, minerals and specimen rocks. The collection which serves as a school laboratory is being kept in cabinets manufactured on the turning of the last century.
