KOVÁCSNÉ PR, SZIGETI KLÁRA: PUSKER FERENC EMLÉKEZETE (EGY ORSZÁGOS JELENTŐSÉGŰ TISZAFÜREDI MÉHÉSZ ÉLETE ÉS MUNKÁSSÁGA) DR. KLÁRA KOVÁCSNÉ SZIGETI: THE MEMORY OF FERENC PUSKER (1913-1999) (THE LIFE AND WORK OF A BEEKEEPER FROM TISZAFÜRED WITH NATION-WIDE IMPORTANCE) The Kiss Pál Museum of Tiszafüred saluted the memory of the beekeeper born 105 years ago with a temporary exhibition on January 26, 2018. He was born in Tömörd, Vas county. He got his lifelong vocation at the two-year-long boarding school of the Hungarian Royal Apiary Ranch in Gödöllő. He got his diploma on August 8,1931. As a result, he built his hives by hand his whole life. He worked with vertical stackable frame hives with 12 frames (the frame’s length: 41,5 cm and 2-2 cm, its width: 30 cm) with a system of equal frames, and with 75-85 families. He did queen rearing for decades and also made artificial wax foundations during the winters with his traditional, artificial wax foundation pouring device. He sent the artificial wax foundation to his customers via post. The most important documents of his life remain: the certificates of elementary and vocational school, his enlisting certificate, letters from a camp of World War II, certificate of his special anti-raid service, certificate of his „malenkij-robot”, which, luckily, was in fact ’malenkij’ (meaning ‘small’), as he only had to work for nine days at the blown up Tisza-bridge, clearing up its ruins. The documents of his religious life prove that he was a faithful catholic man. He was a full-time beekeeper. He restarted beekeeping three times in his life. Luckily, his artificial wax pouring tray, queen rearing and mating hives, beekeeping booth, smoker, smaller devices remain. He invented the making and the tools for the bulrush cope, and successfully spread its application during the winter. He established the apiary subgroup inside the ÁFÉSZ (General Consumer and Marketing Cooperatives) in Tiszafüred in the 1950s that only gave the sales to the ’collective’, the apiaries were owned privately. It counted as the most successful subgroup to sell honey in the county of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok in the 1970s. He helped creating the subdivision of OMME (National Hungarian Apiary Association) in Tiszafüred, and when he felt that he no longer had the strength to continue, he handed over the tasks of leadership and organization to his pupils. He was awarded several times during his lifetime for his productivity. 291
