Remarks on the building of the Szolnok Castle in 1550-1552

Róbert Kertész’s paper ‘Addenda To The Ottoman Period History Of Szolnok - The Location Of The Site Of Public Executions’ can be found on the website of the Scientific Proceedings of Szolnok among the materials of the 2012. November conference. His two-page footnote argues the author’s television lecture on the 16th century castle of Szolnok. Kertész basically disputes the existence of brick and stone buildings as well as the divisibility of works in two phases. On the contrary the author lists the most recent literature and archival data in the disputed issues, draws attention to the inaccurate and inconsistent findings made by Kertész, and also indicates why he can not accept the 2010 excavation in Szolnok (Bástya street) conclusive.
