SÁRHEGY AND ITS VINEYARDS The history of the vine-culture of Sárhegy, in addition to the history of the wine-cellars of Farkasmály, are outlined by the author, who also enumerates the ancient names of units of fields (dűlő) on the hill that are still in use recently in some places, and presents some meteorological data from the 17-19th centuries, the first one from 1618, out of old records. The first entry on this vine-culture is dated back to the 13th century. It had been flouvishina since that time, even during the days of Turkish rule here (16th-17th centuries), till 1886, when the phylloxera destroyed the vineyards. The replanting with almost preterhuman efforts and great expenses had reanimated the vineyards of the Sárhegy soon, but the regression and lack of manual labour made the upper regions of the hill uncultivated by the fifties of our century.
