of rare species, as Caudalejeunea yangambiensis , and the West African Schiffneriolejeunea occulta. Lophocolea difformis and the montane Strepsilejeunea brevifissa were known previously only from East Africa and South Africa. Many of the records from both countries are new (marked by! before the abbreviation of countries) and fill the gapof their known range. The Author expresses his gratitudes towards his late friend, professor M. BIZOT, for sending ASSEL's material, towards professor С V ANDEN BERGHEN and Dr. E. W. JONES for revising the specimen of Caudalejeunea yangambiensis (Vanden Berghen) E. W. JONES. All other specimens listed below were identified by T. PÓCS. A few records from ASSEL's collections are already identified and published by the concerned specialists of different genera, as Jungermannia by J. VÁNA (1974), Acrolejeunea by S. R. GRADSTEIN (1975), Frullania by С VANDEN BERGHEN (1976), Radula by E. W. JONES (1977), finally Cylindrocolea records will be published again by J. VANA. In the list below the Central African Republic (République Centrafricaine) is abbreviated by CA, the Republic of Congo (Brazzaville) is abbreviated by RC. After the abbreviation of the country follows the abbreviation of known substrata, as ct: corticolous te: terricolous ra: ramicolous li : lignicolous ru : rupicolous P : on palm trunk The locality data are copied from ASSEL's handwritten labels, and the collecting numbers are also his. The numeration of specimens starts in each country again, and refers to the paperbags used in the collection. In many cases he collected more than one bag from one locality and many times one bag contains more than one specias. In the latter case I gave letters to each species within one number (e.g. CA 292A, 292B, 292C). The sequence of genera follows SCHUSTER'S (1979:72—78) new classification. A complete set of Hepatic specimens enumerated balow is deposited in the Herbarium of the Ho Si Minh Teachers' College, Eger Hungary (EGR), while a selection of duplicates is sent, according to the will of prof. M. BIZOT, to the Laboratoire de Cryptogamie, Muséum Nationale d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris, France (PC). ENUMERATION 1. SPRUCELLA SUCCIDA (MITT.) STEPH.!
