The article gives an account of the facts, beliefs and misconceptions surrounding the death of Generalissimo Stalin, while also briefly discussing the characteristics of his dictatorship. It describes the myths that surrounded him, how the news of his death was received and recounts the events and the horrors of his funeral. It also discusses Stalins strange resignation after the attack by the Germans, as well as the interruption of his short-lived “eternal rest” in 1961. Finally it warns about his popularity that is undergoing a resurgence in Russia at the moment.
