Tóth Zoltán: 10-11. századi temetőrészlet Gyöngyösön

Zoltán Tóth 10-11th century cemetery fragment in Gyöngyös As part of the archaeological investigations that went on in December 2013 and March 2014 skeletal burials were found along the southern wall of the perimeter wall of the church of St John Martyred in Oil (Olajbanfőtt) in Gyöngyös during the course of digging for some new underground water piping. Grave 5 contained only material finds, S-ended lock rings. For this reason it is very difficult to establish anything concrete about the graves. Based on the radiocarbon sample taken from grave 1 the burial can be dated at around 990-1040. From the relative chronological order of the burials one can conclude that graves 3, 4 and 5 are older than grave 1. And from this one can conclude that grave 5 was dug out in the final third of the 10th century, while grave 4 was dug in the middle third of the 10th century. 266
