megteltek, nem utolsó sorban a múzeumi órák, foglalkozások hatására. A tanév sikeresen zárult. Mindezek a pedagógusok, a szülők és a gyermekek elégedettségét tükrözik munkánk irányába. Szentendre Agnes Székely - Csabáné Pári Educational activities of the Matra Museum in the 2010/2011 academic year The Mátra Museum, Gyöngyös owns Hungary's second biggest and richest collection of natural science. It has a history of more than 130 years, its parts are the paleontological, geological, malacological, vertebrate zoological collections, entomological collections and herbarium. Along Flora and fauna of our country, it preserves representatives of the wildlife of many other areas and continents. The collection occupies half of the Sciences Pavilion opened in 2009, (the other half accomodates the three-storey science exhibition, the Palm House and the classroom). The "casual" visitors do not realize that, when in the exhibition, they walk through "only" half of the building. Thus it is not surprising that the museum offers a number of educational sessions and activities to the interested public. These are extracurricular forums for knowledge acquisition, processing exhibitions and their thematic material, in natural and historical topics. The class activities are for ages ranging from kindergarteners to high school (college and university) students. The classes are linked to the curriculum of primary, secondary and high schools in geography, biology, history, environmental studies and natural sciences, they supplement school curriculum, but they are comprehensible on their own as well. In the 2010/2011 academic year (September 01. 2010. - June 15. 2011.) 723 kindergarteners, 2,393 primary and secondery school students and 277 high school students, totalling 3,393 people participated in museum education classes (and to this number the student- and other groups that requested guided tours could be added as well, as information they heard there is worth a class ...). Teachers had 20 kinds of classes to choose from, according to the children's interests, the curriculum and their age. 472
