Domboróczki László: Számítógépes módszerek régészeti adatok tárolására, elemzésére és bemutatására: esettanulmányok Heves megyéből

László Domboróczki COMPUTERISED METHODS FOR STORING, ANALYSING AND PRESENTING ARCHAEOLOGICAL DATA: CASE STUDIES FROM HEVES COUNTY Computerized methods and applications can aid the work of archaeologists in various ways - from the recording of data through finds analyses right up to the creation of 3D reconstructions. They facilitate better data management and improve the way results are presented. The pages that follow make a brief summary of our work at the Heves County Museum in Eger. 1 Text and image editing Texts and images are the simplest digital elements to produce in archaeology. We use them in archaeological documentation, exhibition displays, books and articles. Creating them is now part of archaeologists' everyday work. The digital cameras and scanners that are available, as well as the related software, makes it possible for us to store everything digitally and to edit them for various purposes. These techniques are so simple and so widely used that we need not describe them in detail. Database manipulation In the case of databases we can talk about simpler and more sophisticated forms. Everybody uses lists of a more straight forward nature to make catalogues of different kinds of things. We for example are using Excel tabloids to catalogue exca1 Our paper was presented at the 36 , h Annual Conference on Computer Applications and Quantitative Methods in Archaeology, in Room B of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest, on April 4, 2008. This abstract has first published for that particular conference: DOMBORÓCZKI László RITZ Henrik 2008. 156-157. Az egri Dobó István Vármúzeum Évkönyve, 2008. 5
