H. Szilasi Ágota: Állandó és időszaki kiállítások a Dobó István Vármúzeumban (1958-2008). Üzenetük általános közkincs

Biennial series organized and co-ordinated by the museum since 1974 (there have been twenty to date). The temporary exhibitions have tended to be held in the exhibition space on the ground floor of the Gothic Palace, while two additional exhibition venues have been available in the Dobó Bastion since 2005. Apart from those exhibitions with a local theme, which have frequently taken place in conjunction with outside partners (other museums, the church, companies, most recently MKB Bank), we have always been keen to put on exhibitions that have arisen from the museum's contacts abroad (Germany, France, Poland, the Czech Republic). The Eger collections have also responded to numerous invitations, supplying either complete exhibitions (ethnography, fine art, photography) or lending individual artefacts to exhibitions both home and abroad. Such artefacts frequently come from either the picture gallery or the archaeological collection. Whether permanent or temporary, Hungarian or international in flavour, the curators of such exhibitions endeavour to give the widest coverage to the topics in question. The past is presented and analysed for the benefit of a present-day audience, a process that embues the objects with a new significance. It is for this reason that, from the point of view of the museologist, or indeed the objects themselves, such exhibitions amount to another form of publication. 368
