Bazil Mihály Telenkó Denominational Identity in Filkeháza Research on popular religion in Hungary over the last three decades, and that on the Greek Catholics particular, has tended to be focus on religious traditions. Those writings putting a primary emphasis on traditions have been joined more recently by functionalist, structuralist and comparative analyses, which, in going beyond the customs of one particular congregation, have opened the way to comparative studies. These include the way in which religious communities were either presented or perceived, an issue that has been somewhat ignored up to this point. The social norms present in any particular village played a decisive role in the formation of a denomination's identity. Filkeháza has one single church, the Greek Catholic church that was built in 1808. Nevertheless both the Greek Catholics and the Roman Catholics use it to for religious worship.
