Zoltán Ujváry The Micbán Legend in Two Folk and One Popular Version During the course of several decades of research into the ethnography of the Gömör region I have come across a large number of folklore genres. Indeed, I have already published much of the material I have collected. The publication of everything I have managed to assemble would not only be impossible, but perhaps unnecessary due to the fact that the folklore in question is frequently of no inherent value. It is frequently the case, however, that something rears its head, which while already known in the literature is nevertheless worth publishing on account of some endearing quality or because it is a surprise due to the geographical extent of its existence. This study focuses on one such "fragment". 308
