Bartha Elek: Útmenti és szabadtéri keresztek Filkeházán

Elek Bartha Wayside and Outdoor Crosses in Filkeháza The thirty years of research by Tivadar Petercsák, the ethnographer of the Zemplén Hegykör, the region of his birth, has produced a significant body of work on the traditional culture of this particular part of Hungary. The research work into the Zemplén region at the University of Debrecen's Department of Ethnography has included research of both a thematic and a monographic nature, together with collection activities, particularly in the fields of local customs and superstitions. In this corpus one finds a considerable amount of data on religious customs in the villages of the Hegyköz. On the subject of church traditions and the ethnography of cemeteries, which extends into religious observance in and around the home, one finds folklore that was still flourishing in the second half of the 20 th century. This study supplements what we already know about the religious traditions in the village of Filkeháza with some additional findings. 255
