Hír János: A felsőtárkányi-medencében 2000–2005 között végzett őslénytani ásatások eredményeinek rövid vázlata

In 2004 an artificial trench was excavated above the Güdör-kert section. In 2005 a faunal-containing lens was found in the profile of this trench (Fig. 3.). This new locality „artificial trench" is situated 29m from the Güdör-kert section. 2 tonnes of sediment was washed and the sorting is still going on. So far Collimys n. sp., Anomalomys gaudryi and Microtocricetus molassicus have been found. The Felsőtárkány site is situated close to Güdör-kert at the head of a small valley. It was excavated in 2000 and one tonne of sediment was washed. In the Felsőtárkány-Felnémet (Fig. 1.) section (Fig.l.) two fossiliferous layers were sampled (Fig. 2.): Felsőtárkány-Felnémet 2/3 and Felsőtárkány-Felnémet 2/7. These refer to the layers of section 2/3 and 2/7 (Fig.2.). 6.5 tonnes of sediment was washed from the two productive layers. In these faunas the presence of Cricetodon n. sp., Megacricetodon minor, Megacricetodon germanicus, Democricetodon brevis is clear. The biochronological position was classified as a MN 7/8 zone. The faunas of the Felsőtárkány-Felnémet section are older than Felsőtárkány 3/2 in the Güdör-kert section. The forms studies in the Felsőtárkány Basin provide new information on the fauna and the paleoenvironment of the late MN 7/8 and early MN9 (??) zones of the Carpathian Basin. 551
