B. Gál Edit: Az Almásyak birtoklása Heves és Külső-Szolnok vármegyében a XVII–XVIII. században

Dr. SZENDREI János: 1884 A Miskocz nemzetség. TURUL 1884/4 Лп: TURUL 1883-1900 CDROM Arcanum К. 2003./ Edit В. Gál The Almásy Estates in Heves and Upper-Szolnok County in the 17th and 18th Centuries At the end of the 17 th century and the beginning of the 18 th century the Almásy family attained a position of some importance in the political life of the county. With his good negotiating skills and his familiarity with the letter of the law the recently ennobled János I. Almásy did both Gyöngyös and certain landowners a great service. For this he was rewarded with the financial resources and the properties which formed the basis of the economic and political influence the family was to have at the end of the 18th century. Although father János I's life was dominated by a court case for the inheritance of the estates, he managed to provide his son János II. with the property necessary to consolidate his wealth. Initially he attempted to buy land in Heves and Upper-Szolnok County. By marrying into the Borsy family, however, he also became the owner of some substantial estates in Borsod County. As he and his wife Anna Borsy were both gifted "estate managers", the family's acquisitions continued to grow. During the course of their overlordship their acquisitions grew not only in extent but in profitability. These changes can be seen in the records for the settlements covered in this study. Although János Almásy built palaces on many of his estates, like those in Zsadány, Mérán and Pásztó, the family continued to be centred on their birthplace, Gyöngyös. Here in 1784, on the plot of land they bought in Bene utca, Pál Almásy built the residence which was used to store the Hungarian crown on no less than three occasions between 1806 and 1809, and which locals continue to refer to as Szent Korona ház. It was also in Gyöngyös, in the crypt of the Franciscan church, that the members of the Almásy family were buried. 250
