Mrs Miklós Báder The Artistic Community's Rôle in Fostering Traditions The artistic community plays a major role in the fostering of traditions. This is something outlined by Mrs Miklós Báder, president of the Heves Folk Art and Cottage Industries Association, in her analysis of what is an outstanding example. The association in question, founded in 1951 and led by teacher Mrs Béla Tompa, aimed at collecting and continuing the textile traditions of Heves County. Their work was characterised by a steady flow of designs and works, folk art exhibitions, exhibitions, conferences and courses. The practising artistic communities were associated with the peasant cottages and workshops responsible for the protection of folk art treasures (Bodony, Recsk, Mátraderecske). Those active within the association can lay claim to numerous embroidered and woven ensembles. 465
