manifested not only in the exhibitions which were put on, but in the professional conferences the museum hosted. It was Horváth who started the museum evenings, where people could become acquainted with the most recent research findings in the region. In 1996 the museum moved into the so-called Sörfőző House, a property once belonging to the Grassalkovich family. Once the building had been renovated a dream shared by all those who had been curator of the museum finally became a reality. It was now possible for the study of the region's rich local history, archaeology and ethnographical heritage to go on unhindered together with sensible policies vis-à-vis the development of the somewhat unusual contemporary art and ethnographic collections. 134
