Rehabilitation of Eger’s Town Centre

ÉRSEKKERT, PETŐFI SQUARE, KOSSUTH LAJOS STREET

The plans for the refurbishment of the Kossuth Lajos street and Eszterházy Square area, entitled “Complex renewal of downtown areas’ (TOP-6.3.2-15.) were submitted for financing form the Eger - Green City Initiative. The lecture presents the plans for the rehabilitation of green surfaces and the related spatial elements in Eger’s historic city centre. First the plans for the refurbishment of Eszterházy square are described, followed by the Hatvani kapu square, the area between Kossuth street, Eszterházy square and the section of Hatvani kapu square adjoining Telekessy street, as well as the plans for the area between Egészségház street and the County Hall. In addition, the lecture also covers the planned investments within the project entitled EGER - Complex Tourism Development of Health Resorts. The reconstruction of Egészségház street (new promenade), the reconstruction of the junction between Egészségház street - Klapka street - Érsekkert, as well as the refurbishment of Petőfi square and Fürdő street are also presented. A current topic of interest, the future plans for the town’s protected park next to the thermal spa and open-air bath, is also covered.
