This is a particularly interesting development because by this time the rather distant castle of Eger had taken over Fülek’s rôle following the latter’s destruction in 1682. It was at this time that Ajnácskő, together with Sirok, which lay in vicinity of Eger, became an advanced garrisons for Eger Castle, and it was to Ajnácskő that the commander of Eger Miklós Perényi led the hajduks from his own infantry regiment.
