OROSS ANDRAS: A határvédelmi rendszer szervezeti formáinak változásai 1683 és 1703 között
András Or os s THE BORDER PROTECTION SYSTEM AND THE ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGES BETWEEN 1683 AND 1703 The end of the 17th century saw the Hungarian military being restructured; centre to this was the transformation in the protection of the borders. In summarizing 1 stress, that the restructuring of the Kingdom of Hungary demanded a new structure in which various drafts have been identified, naturally from a different viewpoint. The Hungarian feudal representatives along the country’s borders and the councillors in Vienna, of course, envisioned the new restructuring differently, but we can safely say that the objective, a need for change, were common. We have seen in the previous system of boarder defences that the representatives were marginalized (or reduced) and that the formation of permanent places awarded to military leaders and their troops entering into the foreground, along with the nomination of regional management roles. The transition could clearly be perceived as the Habsburg monarchy’s central administrative defence body, also registered in the books of the court war council, where the numbers of the previously dominant boarder castles were shown to comparatively, clearly decrease in the years 1680-1690. It is important to re-emphasize that the basic problem was the organizational issues, so that such castles and territories to be returned to the dominion of the Kingdom of Hungary, of which the 16th century defence system was not developed, and only partially joined, could not be tested at the time of a new era in relations for the restoration of the system. It can also be seen that the Kingdom of Hungary bom into this new draft had to make an adjustment, where each is essential to the new headquarters in setting up the boarder defences and it's reorganisation. 51
