and from 1567 the Royal Chamber of Szepes in Kassa [now Kosice, Slovakia]) where they became part of the chamber estates system. The stewards appointed by the chamber only administered the estates for short periods of time: 1563-1568, 1577-1579 and 1594-1596. In the meantime the incomes were handled by Eger’s captain-general, during which time the steward acted as his subordinate. Following the fall of the castle (1596) the administration of the bishop of Eger’s estates was carried out from Hejce for nearly a decade. The study introduces those officials who participated in the administration of the Eger Castle estates. In the appendix of the study readers can find a list of those property officials working in Eger between 1548 and 1607.
