The exhibition accompanying the 2004 biennial was dedicated to János Demeter Lóránt's show entitled "Gift" to mark the bequest of ninety of his watercolours to the museum col lection. With the István Dobó Castle Museum's contemporary watercolour exhibition continuing to grow and the twentieth biennial coming up in 2006, the time is perhaps right to bring out a special jubilee catalogue providing an account of what is nothing short of a watercolour revival in Hungary. To quote Katalin Keserű: „It is watercolour's transparence which gives it its unique ability to touch the world beyond the surface, as well as the surface itself.
