Pozsonyi József: A semsei Semsey család története (Régi magyar családok 1. Debrecen, 2002.)
Summary
Counties. Due mostly to political reasons, they abandoned the ancient family possessions, and many of them sought refuge by settling abroad. Out of the six Semseys, who fought as officers during the 1848-49 Revolution and War of Independence, two emigrated to the United States, while the rest of them suffered impoverishment. During the 20 th century, several branches of the Semsey clan sank to middle-class level, while the counts' branch left the country for political reasons after World War II. Today, as direct descendants of Richter Frank von Meissen, there are numerous Semsey families across the United States of America and in Hungary, while individual branches reside in Argentina, Germany, France, and Turkey. The Semseys currently enjoy substantial affluence and considerable prestige all over the world. The present volume has been written in order to honor the forebears and to acknowledge the merits of their present descendants.
