Irodalomtörténet - Bíró Éva: Julow Viktor diákévei. Részletek az Eötvös kollégiumi Naplóból

JULOW VIKTOR DIÁKÉVEI Éva Bíró The Student years of Viktor Julow 169 The study discusses the student years of the literary historian and university tutor, Viktor Julow (1919-1982) covering the period he spent in the Secondary School of the Debrecen Reformed College and looking at the results he achieved in various academic competitions and his schoolleaving exams. The study examines this period from a multiple point of view using school and family documentation in an attempt to answer the question: why the young Julow, who was originally studying medicine and then law, chose a career in the humanities. After winning a national literary study competition, he was granted membership in the renowned Ötvös College. His college and university years were researched based on family and personal documents and manuscripts, and accorded a special place among these are his correspondence and the diary he kept in his student years from 1941 and 1943. The description and analysis of the friendships he made at the college as well as that of the various life situations throw light on the literary policy stance of the young university students of the time while serving as a historical document ofthe era.
