Bíró Katalin KOPPÁNY. ON THE HISTORICAL PAINTINGS OF HOLLÓ LÁSZLÓ The author gives a newer survey on the historical paintings of Holló László (1887—1976) greatly relying on the previous results. She analyses three outstanding works of the collection and makes an attempt outlining the historical mind of the artist. On this basis she assumes that one of the inspiring influences on these paintings was an article of Szabó Dezső from 1927. The result is that Holló László's historical views can be parallelled with some of the political ideologies of the two-war period in Hungary

: not only with the ideology of Szabó Dezső but also the thinking of the so-called „populist" writers. She tries to find explanation for the fact that no actual connection between the painter and the movement of the „populist" writers existed for all that. 315
