Finta: Artists’ Symposium=Workshop. Manuscript. Municipal Museum of Art, Győr, Inv. Nr. A.649.98. 3 See János Kulcsár’s account of the first exhibition: „The immortalization of Győr’s environs and the cityscape, a detail of a street have become prevalent in the whole material, radiating such an extent of monotony for which there may be an explanation but no excuse at all.” In: Vas Népe, Vol. 15, No. 6, 8th Jan. 1970, futhermore in Edit Ricz’s exhibition review: „Among the forty-four creations exhibited, there are also great successes, altogether the show is, however, only mediocre.” In: Kisalföld, 29lh Jan. 1971. „The jury found no more than 22 paintings and graphics and two sculptures out of 100 pictures suitable for presentation, yet there is a big difference in values even between them.” In: Kisalföld, 2nd Febr. 1972. 4 Summarizing the experiences of the 7th symposium, the participating artists themselves were first to mention in 1975 publicly the proposal to leave the works here, perhaps following the talk with Nándor Salamon. Klára Kocsis: Common Experience, Divergent Styles. In: Kisalföld. 1st May 1975, then the thought became public more widely in connection with the 10-year jubilee exhibition when several artists offered their works for the museum in the hope of a future permanent exhibition. Nándor Salamon: A Present from Győr’s Guests. In: Kisalföld, 24'h Jan. 1976. 5 To fulfill the modification of directives, in 1979 the draft of the first code of practice of the artists’ symposium was drawn up at the Department of Cultural Affairs of the Executive Committee of the City Council of Győr, which took rather seriously the correction of the mistakes hinted at before by the artists continuously, it was still never signed, as it could not entirely live up the political expectations, although it declared in a separate point: „The Artists’ Symposium of Győr assures its participants entire creative activity of art, helps and supports its free development. The symposium is not destined to influence anybody’s artistic approach, method or style. The only requirement is that the artists should produce art and creations of socialist content.” In: The Code of Practice of the Artists’ Symposium of Győr. Municipal Museum of Art, Győr, Inv. Nr.: A. 832.98. 6 Artists’ Symposium of Győr 1968-1998. Catalogue. Ed. Lajos Varga. In: Népszava, 25th Febr. 1977. 8 Seeking for a way out of the problems, Csaba Illés made every effort to realize a solely environment aesthetical symposium which would have created a different sytem of interests in the relation of the symposium and the local factories.
