Nowadays it is only interesting for young career starters, not for the old, but under these conditions we’ll never be able to lure here really good foreign artists. We can give the exotic journeys a miss, so there is nothing left but the symposium with a good programme. This is the only way out apart from the educational symposium. How good it would be to connect them with the well-paid kind of symposium!

I was glad about one of the former lectures which dealt with the regional development. If we look at the example of Pécs developments of such measures are going on I’ve never seen since I’ve been living in Hungary. The recultivation of coal and uranium mines is in the last phase, we’ve already missed it. But it would have been much better if we had established a nice, plastic country park instead of the ugly, boring strip recultivation system. Giant road construction is going on, a new airport is also being built and the old industrial buildings are demolished so that something else will be built instead of them, or they are refurbished for a new function. The artists’ symposium not joining these developments would be silly! There’s money here!
