Similarly to the other big Hungarian towns the artistic life of Győr in the first years of the 20th century saw a revival. The largest scale artistic event of the year was the opening of a representative exhibition of the Budapest National Salon in Győr in January showing about 300 works of over 100 artists with great success. In September an exhibition of the painter Burchard-Bélaváry István was opened, who had achieved considerable success abroad especially in America. In addition to reviewing the other local cultural events of the year this study provides a detailed description of these two large-scale representations.
