TANULMÁNYOK ARRABONA 38. 2000. IMRE ENZSÖL: Celebrations of the Millennium in Mosón County There were many types of celebrations (official county-celebration, commemorations in villages, schools and by associations) dedicated to the millennial anniversary of the Hungarian conquest in Moson county mainly inhabited by ethnic (German and Croatian) groups. (According to the recommendations of the county, the communities and institutions celebrated the event with varied receptivity and vividly.) The administration of education stimulated the organisation of school festivals and planting trees, thus inspiring the teaching staffs of Hungarian sentiment. The celebrations organised by associa tions also reflected the eagerness of worthy millennial commemorations. The series of commemorations in the county combined certain stereotypes and spontaneity together with festive and unusual style and forms. The celebrations, however, expressed the interdependence and peaceful coexistence of the Hungarian minority and the ethnic groups. The nationalities were not characterised either by distrust or by ethnic conflicts in 1896. This is the most essential historic feature of the millennial celebrations in Moson county of many nationalities. IMRE ENZSÖL: Millenniumsf eiern im Komitat Moson Im größtenteils von der deutschen und kroatischen Nationalität bewohnten Komitat Moson fanden Feierlichkeiten zur Begehung des tausendsten Jubiläums der Landnahme in verschiedener Art statt (repräsentative Festfeier des Komitats, Gedenkfeiern in Gemeinden, Schulen und Vereinen). Auf Anregung des Burgkomitats beging man in Gemeinden und Institutionen Feierlichkeiten in bunten Farben und mit verschiedener Empfangsbereitschaft. Von der Abteilung Bildung im Komitatsrat wurden Schulfeiern und das Pflanzen von Bäumen initiiert, um so auf zum ungarischen Nationalgefühl positiv eingestellte Lehrerkollegien zu wirken. Auch war man bei der Organisation von Feiern in Vereinen darauf bedacht, dem Millennium ein würdiges Andenken zu verleihen. Die Reihe der Gedenkveranstaltungen im Komitat zeigt eine Mischung von gegebenen Stereotypen und Spontanität auf, es fehlte jedoch nicht an außerordentlichem, feierlichem Stil und Form

An den Festagen kam zugleich das Aufeinanderangewiesensein und das friedliche Zusammenleben der ungarischen Minderheit und der hier wohnenden Nationaliäten zum Ausdruck. 1896 gab es zwischen ihnen kein Mißtrauen und keine ethnischen Konflikte. Das ist das historische Verdienst der Millenniumsfeiern des von mehreren Nationalitäten bewohnten Komitats Moson. 249
