TANULMÁNYOK - KÖZLEMÉNYEK ARRABONA 37.1999. ZSUZSANNNA K. ZOFFMANN Anthropological Series of the Gata-Wieselburg Culture, Bronze Age, from the Sites of Hegyeshalom-Újtelep A cemetery of the Bronze Age originating in the Gata-Wieselburg culture contains the remains of 43 individuals with relatively few infant corpses in the category of Inf .1. as it is the characteristic of this certain era. The material of finds has not been under a thorough anthropological examination for its bad condition. However, the occurence of Mediterranean and Alpine gracile types is proveable. On the other hand the earlier finds of the Gata-Wieselburg culture situated in Hainburg-Teichtal and Oggau, contained a planopccipital, a so-called "Glockenbecher" type, which is a taurid type according to the nomenclature. This type did not occure in the series of Hegyeshalom yet, it could also be the result of the material's fragmentation. Comparing the larger Hamburg series with the assistance of the Penrose distance analysis resulted the reference to genetical contact between the Gata-Wieselburg ethnic group and the neolithic Zlota culture's population situated in Poland as well as the German and the Moravian Glockenbecher groups. These issues match the archeologically widely known theory that the Glockenbecher culture played part in the development of the Gata-Wieselburg culture. However, we have to remark that an anthropologically genetical relation has only been proved with the German and Moravian Glockenbecher groups, not with the Bohemian and the Hainburg ethnic groups. 73
