Muezológia - Múzeumi élet - Hermann Róbert: The Diary of Pál Gyapay, Medium Landowner from Tét
On the centenary of Adolf Frankenburg's birth, the 14th of February, 1912, the circle renamed itself after its founding president, so since that time the official name was Frankenburg Literary Circle. The work performed by the Frankenburg Literary Circle in strengthening national culture and patriotic feelings proved to be effective. One of the evidences of its success was the referendum on the 1 4th of December 1921, when the majority of Sopron's population voted for Hungary. Péter Dominkovits Sources relating to the manorial court jurisdiction of the land -holding nobility of County Sopron Documents of court-cases and investigations held at Petőháza before the manorial court of the family Zeke The origins of the institution of the manorial court - a form of jurisdiction exercised by the landowner, fulfilling at the same time certain duties of public administration reach back in Hungary as far as the 1 2th century, to the first trace of the soke. As regards to the development of legal practices, the pivotal points in the formation of this special juridical forum were the donation of the immunitás (13th c.) and the jus gladii. In the framework of these franchises, personal privileges were connected with the right of extraterritoriality. According to the present state of historiography, the golden age of manorial court jurisdiction was in the 16-1 7th centuries. The first manorial court protocols explored by historical research date back to the middle of the 16th century. (One of the first such sources is the manorial court protocol of the family Nádasdy, from 1556.) These protocols are invaluable sources of legal, social and economic history, as well as of historical ethnography, and the conflicts documented thereby reveal vivid details of contemporary everyday life. The article includes the edition of five manorial court protocols set down at the court of the family Zeke who had their base-domain at Petőháza and possessed some other small estates in County Sopron, thus belonged to the lesser nobility. The author also publishes three justification protocols and one protocol which documents the examination of witnesses. Manorial court-, civil-, and criminal suits alike evidence conflicts between the village community and the landowner which arose from attempts to expand seignorial power, or because of the burdens of villein socage. The so far unpublished documents of witchcraft-trials and witchcraft accusations, however, reflect tensions within the peasant community.
