Komlós Katalin: A 18. század második felének magyarországi billentyűs zenéje Katalin Komlós The keyboard music of the second half of the 18th century in Hungary The study strives to offer a thorough examination of the keyboard music of the second half of the 18th century in Hungary. In the introduction, the instruments used in the period are listed, which is followed by an analysis of the emergence of the ever so popular entertaining Divertimento/Divertissement genre in the music of the Viennese Classic the keyboard works of Georg Druschetzky and Joseph Bengraf. The traces of the Beethoven impact, so robust in the early 19th century, are detected in the works of Franz Xaver Kleinheinz and János Spech; the attention is drawn to Franz Grill’s significant composition written for piano titled Caprice pour le Forte-Piano. (At the same time, the study also points at the significance of the minor genres, proliferating in the keyboard music of the period.) In the continuation of the study, the amateur composers originating from the circles of the Hungarian aristocracy are mentioned (including a number of women) and then the focus is placed on the four-hands and solo pieces of János Fusz, one of the most remarkable composers of the period. The closing section of the study offers an analysing presentation of the piano schools published in Hungary (Rigler, Gáti). 36
