Rei Cretariae Romanae Fautorum Acta XXXIV - Istenić, I.: Glazed Pottery the Western Cemetery at Poetovio. p. 23–26.
A small, extremely similar, light yellowish-olive (D84/86) glazed pot was found in Emona in a grave of the Flavian period or the first half of the 2nd Century (PLESNICAR-GEC 1972, gr.609, T. 140/12). (6) The fabric differs from the Poetovio examples. Related small pots with yellowish-green glaze, but only approximately 2 cm high (they possibly functioned as lids), are known from Northern Italy. Only one example has been dated, that is to the end of the 1st and the first half of the 2nd Century (Maccabruni 1985, 22). The glazed pot from grave 352 (fig. 1/352, fig. 3) is unique at the moment. From its form, the ribs on its body and the rouletted decoration, it is similar to the fine-ware Dating is based on fragments of Italian terra sigillata, Consp. form 43.1 and possibly 39.1. A re-examination of the originals has shown that they are not imitation terra sigillata, as was stated in the catalogue (PLESNICAR-GEC 1972, 104,235). !-2 pots from other graves in the cemetery under discussion (7) (fig. 2/1-3). Analogies for the ornament, which is composed of a light to dark green-coloured plant motif, are not known to the author. The glaze appears slightly transparent with a basic brownish-yellow colour, which turns greenish-yellow towards the base. (8) The pottery shows all the characteristics of the fabric, which has been defined as typical of Poetovio products. As grave 352 cannot be dated it must be linked to the related fine-ware pots already mentioned (fig. 2/1-3). The latter are dated to Following our typology of fine-ware pots, type 2: inv. nos. 5677 (gr. 671), 8357 (gr. 593), 8569 (gr. 359) and SUBIC 1972, Y 130/5. E. Bonis (1942, T. XIII 9/2, 92) states that "der originelle Überzug ist mit einem modernen grünen Schmelz bedeckt". 25
