the Kurd horizon in Transdanubia. Although the Riegsee-Ragály swords are the typical weapons of the Aranyos horizon, they rarely occur in the Kurd horizon, mostly as fragments (Mozsolics 1976, 12). Another „Hungarian" sword was presented to the Hungarian National Museum by the Direction of the Museum für Deutsche Geschichte (Berlin) in 1977 (inv. no.: 77. 13. 1). Our knowledge on the Riegsee sword is as follows. Originally it made part of the Zschille collection. This collection — together with several objects from prehistoric and Middle Ages — was acquired by the Museum für Völkerkunde in Leipzig. In 1974 the Leipzig Museum transferred this collection to the Museum für Deutsche Geschichte (Berlin). The date concerning the site — „Hungary" — seems granted. Zschille had probably bought it from an antique dealer. Unfortunatelly the inventory of the collection was destroyed during the war. Tiny circles run around the small cylindrical knob of the oval-shaped pommel of the sword (Fig. 3). Under the non-centrically positioned plate the grip section is oval and decorated with incised lines. Under it the section of the grip is lozenge-shaped. The paragraph-like pattern is partly effaced on it. The sword is cracked on one side of the hilt just above the blade and it has two small knobs on both sides, as the typically Riegsee swords have. The blade has a broad midrib. The point has been broken off and filed down. Originally this sword used to be longer. Its length is 55 cm, the diameters of the pommel are 4,3x3,5 cm, and the blade-width is 4,5 cm. The purpose of the present remarks is to supplement data concerning Riegsee-Ragály swords from the Carpathian Basin (for the enumeration, spreading and origin of Riegsee-Ragály swords cf. Mozsolics, 1976, 9-16, fig. 1). A . Mozsolics 188
