Long Bone Tools There is another category of 19 smoothing tools in the long bone material. They differ from the rib smoothers in that: 1. They are made from the split diaphyses of postcranial elements. For example there are small artificially truncated ribs or scapulae. 2. They are striated perpendicular to the length of the working end indicating use with a sideways movement. 3.
