Long Bone Tools There is another category of 19 smoothing tools in the long bone material. They differ from the rib smoothers in that: 1. They are made from the split diaphyses of post­cranial elements. For example there are small artificially truncated ribs or scapulae. 2. They are striated perpendicular to the length of the working end indicating use with a sideways movement. 3.
