INTRODUCTION 189 Research of facts was hard because of the non-existence of an archive of this branch of the family. Therefore only a few documents and photographs found in various archives, museums and private possession could be used along with articles published in some magazines during the Count’s life and other literature about him. There are many quotations in this book. The old orthography was kept and only those parts corrected that disturb the interpretation as well as the the apparent errors and misspellings. The other major problem was the use of names of localities whose name has been changed. In this case the names are used as they were used in the described period and the present name is put in parentheses whenever they appear first. It can be seen from the introduction and the structure of this volume that it is not meant to be a monography, although the researchers tried to interpret the majority of the available sources. The authors of this volume will continue to analyse the Count’s work, they believe however, that the results of the research done to date are worthy to be shared with the public now.
