RESUME 447 > Thamar (cat. 23); Godfather's Breakfast (cat. 100); The Shore of Lake Balaton (Akarattya, cat. 113) 1933 Csók and Andor Hubay have an exhibition in the Frankel Salon to­gether in February. > Undressing Model (cat. 33) 1934 Fie participates in the 19th Venice Biennale with portraits and land­scapes of Lake Balaton. In the summer, György Ungvár and his wife invite Csók to paint in their castle in Pusztakengyel, which he does on a regular basis until 1944. In August he and his daughter go on summer holiday in Innsbruck, in the Alps. > György Ungar and Peter Ungar (cat. 106) 1935 Plis 70th birthday is celebrated by the Ernst Museum with a jubilee exhibition. 130 of his works from the previous two decades are dis­played. Gábor Ugrón and Elek Petrovics speak highly of his art along with Béla Lázár, who introduces the complete cycle of Lake Balaton in the catalogue of the exhibition. In January the Szinyei Merse Society holds a gala meeting in his honor and his native vil­lage awards him honorary citizenship. Ervin Ybl greets him with a welcome speech. Elis daughter, Züzü, gets married. Pie donates Petőfi in Café Pilvax (cat. 130) to the Petőfi Society. Pie goes to France. He participates in the Expo of Brussels. He makes a speech at Pál Majkovszky's funeral. The Nyugat publishes his memorials with title of"Rippl-Rónai and I". > Self-portrait in the Garden (In the Bower, cat. 2); The Portrait of Anna Léderer (Mrs Ungar, cat. 58) 1936 He participates in the 20th Venice Biennale and the Hungarian ex­hibition organized by the Galerie Neumann und Salzer in Vienna. He displays a larger collection with the title of "Woman in art" at the exhibition of the Society of Fine Arts. 1937 He participates in the Hungarian representative exhibitions in Oslo and in the Künstlerhaus, Vienna. His collected exhibition opens in the Frankie Salon; the preface of the catalogue is written by Ernő Kállai. > Still-life with Buddha (cat. 41); Haystack (cat. 55); Amalfi (cat. 98); The Margaret Bridge in Winter (The Margaret Bridge in Fog, cat. 103); The Reconstruction of the Margaret Bridge (cat. 104); Flourishing Meadow (cat. 108) 1938 He presents three of his portraits to the Museum of Székesfehérvár (His Father's Portrait, 11.6; His mother's Portrait, 11.5; Self-portrait, cat. 1 ). He reads old entries from his student diary at his former school, FerencToldy Grammar School, in Budapest's 1st district. He moves to his studio near to the abutment of Margaret Bridge in Buda. He participates in Hungarian exhibitions in Riga, Helsinki,Tallinn and Kaunas. > Sun-bathing Woman (cat. 107); Threshing-machines in the Farm (cat. 110) 1939 He is awarded the Fülöp Weiss Award by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences for his career. > Flourishing Rape-field (Flourishing Spring, cat. 109); Blooming Apricot Tree (The Old Apricot Tree in Spring, cat. 111) 1940 > Company in the Salon (cat. 105) 1942 He has an accident on Queen Vilma Road, close to his studio. 1943 He finishes his memoirs. 1944 Csók survives the siege of Budapest in the city. His cycle of the Great Plain, consisting of 25 paintings which have never been ex­hibited, is demolished. His studio is in ruins. He participates with a larger collection at the Hungarian exhibition in Switzerland. 1945 He celebrates his 80th birthday in Budapest's liberation year. Sándor Ék brings him out of the air-raid shelter. My Memoirs is published by Officina with a preface by Emilia Papp. 1947 He is invited to paint in Dunaföldvár from May to October by the Evangelic Congregation. 1948 He participates in the Hungarian exhibition in London. He receives the Kossuth Prize. 1949 He is elected president of the Association of the Hungarian Artists and Industrial Artists in September. 1950 On the occasion of his 85th birthday a life-work exhibition is organ­ized by the Association of the Hungarian Artists and Industrial Artists in the Museum of Fine Arts, directed by Aurél Bernáth.The T I
