Numerous similar forums as well as this publication will be necessary to measure the importance of the Hungarian scout movement in details * and as a whole from 1910 to 1948. To have an idea about the deeds of the 40 year-old emigrant Hungarian scout movement a lot of analysis have to be carried out and a lot of facts have to be revealed. Our publication includes the lectures of the scientific conference held in the Museum of Szeged on the loth of November. Its virtues and faults can be derived from this fact. Even the participants noticed that repetitions and overlaps in the contents of the lectures occured. It was impossible to entirely avoid this because in a few cases it would have broken the structure of certain surveys. It was up to the lecturer whether to add notes or not as well as to decide whether the scientific, sometimes dry style should be mixed with the style of an essay or the elements of a lighter, subjective remembrance. According to the original plan wé wanted to give way to comments also. After the long-lasting session only a little time remained for remarks, and no real debate developed either. Probably the current political atmosphere dominated the fact that the first contributors mainly urged the reorganization of scouting, or they proved the statements of the delivered lectures by recalling their own, subjective memories, so we will disregard the publication of these. 9
