BÁRTHJÁNOS Népmozgás és életút a XVIII. századi Csanád vármegyében Movement of peoples and life in the 18th Century Csanád County Along with a brief study the author publishes 18th century lawsuit texts, and details of testimonies from Csanád County. The texts illustrate the enormous spontaneous movement of peoples that took place in the 18th century in the Carpathian Basin. The waves of peoples were mainly moving from the northern lands towards the southern plain territories that had been liberated from the Turkish rule. Csanád County was affected by both the Hungarian and Romanian movements of people heading from Transylvania to the west. Suspects and witnesses in search of a better life, moving to another country or maybe escaping from their former homes, had reported on the typical life events of the age in their testimonies. Ill
