Köszöntők–Méltatások - Marjanucz László: A tudós „makai” (Tóth Ferenc 90. születésnapjára)

MARJANUCZLÁSZLÓ A tudós „makai”. (Tóth Ferenc 90. születésnapjára) The „Makai scholar" (for the 90th birthday of Ferenc Tóth) The study reviews the life work of the 90-year-old dr. Ferenc Tóth, the retired museum curator. He graduated from the University as a Hungarian - History major student, then he taught at the grammar school in Makó and for a short time he was assistant professor at the University of Szeged. Since 1964 he had been the curator of the Attila József Museum. He restarted the Makó Museum's Booklets series, edited and wrote several publications, created a new museum building, created an open-air ethnographic museum and installed the Makó's onion house in the Ópusztaszer Memorial Park. His work was recognized by several honours. For example, in 1990 he became honorary citizen of the Town of Makó, in 1998 he received Csongrdd County’s Creative Prize, and in 2002 the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary Grand Cross... His scientific work is wide-ranging. He dealt with local history, literature history, folk art, and art history. What is common in them is the fact that they are all related to his hometown, Makó. The author reviews and analyzes his professional activity. He emphasizes the organization of volumes of Makó’s Monograph, his heavy volumes on Makó onions, his research on the local aspects of Attila József's life, and his writings on Ferenc Erdei. 31
