SOME CURRENT PHENOMENA OF DANCE-HOUSE-FOLKLORISM Katalin Juhász In my paper, I wish to discuss the present situation and the further tasks of research in folklorism. I am going to outline the history of the movement of amateur fok-dance and folk-music and present various trends of folklorism that have developed through to the present. I am going to analyse the present situation of the movement, paying particular attention to its way of structuring and the phenomena of the last few years (appearance of folk-stars, hits of folk-songs and dance-dialects, and trends of fashion inspired by folk-costume). I devote a separate part of the paper to the relationship between folk-tradition and national education. It is one of the permanently reoccurring problems of Hungarian intellectuals-how we can preserve our national identity in the flood of foreign influences filtering into Hungary from the more developed Western European countries. 92
