A Móra Ferenc Múzeum Évkönyve: Studia Naturalia 5. (Szeged, 2009)

Summary

The protected and highly protected plants of this area detailed A plant does not become incidentally highly protected, so the species belonging to this group - have outstanding importance from the point of view of conservation as well. It is more difficult to talk about the protected species. It should be examined within certain regions or administrative areas if some plants could be considered of floristic interest or not. In Csongrád county the occurance of certain species, their topographical layout and the size of certain populations are not only very different from the "average numbers all over Hungary", but from the neighbouring counties' data as well. In many cases, some plants can be found in great numbers in other areas, whereas they are considered very rare in Csongrád county. There are much less examples of the opposite ratio. The fact that the eastern and the western parts of this countryside are two different worlds should also be taken into consideration. The boundary between them lays on the right bank of the river Tisza, by the border of the Praematricum and the Crisicum, following the former flood areas. Near the boundary line some habitats of mixed character developed which had a positive effect on the variety of the flora and the fauna. The following protected and highly protected species are discussed in detail: Highly protected species Colchicum arenarium Bulbocodium versicolor Gladiolus palustris Early spider-orchid (Ophrys sphegodes) Epipactis bugacensis Protected species Pheasant's eye (Adonis vernalis) Marsh gentian (Gentiana pneumonanthe) Iris variegata Iris spuria Iris sibirica Marsh helleborine (Epipactis palustris)
