Summary

turf mine and the fishing lake of Kelebia) were formed much later and they are artificial formations. It would be an important point of view to make plans - which are professionaly unquestionable and are talked over and agreed upon - about each task of remaking of nature, where man has to intervene actively. Via water supplying and reed growing - which corresponds with conservation - the lakes here could be a real paradise for birds. The afforestation of the Kiskunság sand ridge's southern-west part The afforestation of the sand here can be grouped into 3 separate types, which are the following: — tree planting by the inhabitants — tree planting by the big manor — tree planting by communities. Afforestation by inhabitants - this is the changing of farms for better forming the hedges of dirt roads, planting fruit trees and the designation of boundaries. The shelter and forest belts, which protect the plough-lands are not listed here. In the areas of the survey these green parts were formed in the time of the cooperative farming, so they could only be considered inhabitant afforestation in the extended sense. The only big manor in Csongrád county between the river Tisza and Danube was the Pallavicini estate. The afforestation of this estate started relatively late, in the second half of the 19th century (Trogmayer-Zombori 1980). The estate borders were uncleared for a long time. At the beginning hunting was the motivating factor but later woodcutting was more dominant. The bigger settlements of Kiskunság sand ridges were forced to settle quicksand since the end of 1700's. The population living on farms increased in the 19th century and providing them with firewood was a problem to be solved. In the beginning of the 1800's around all the biggest towns and some smaller settlements afforrestation was started to stop quicksand. By the end of 1800' s in Csongrád county all those bigger forests on sand were formed which can still be admired nowdays. Community- and nature-friendly landscape development The future Kőrös-ér Landscape Protection Area has a mosaic-like character, which means there are no bigger adjoining areas. This fact also means that being a protected area will not hinder the settlements' economy and their infrastructural investments at all. They will still have enough space left for the development of their infrastructure.
