th CENTURY The subject matter introduced in the title is a continuation of the summary published in 2002 by the author, presenting the period of the middle of the 20

th century. The former study was based on the inventory made in 1953-54, at the same time following its form. While present study is a result of a many-sided collection comprehending a period of half a century from the material preserved at the Somogyi Library, the Archives of Szeged and the Móra Ferenc Museum. Information gained from the issues of daily newspapers in Szeged, such as Szegedi Híradó and Szegedi Napló are compared to the data collected from different local committees and documents, as well as with the information provided by maps and outlines of sites and also with the census data of 1870. These data are at the same time compared to the photographs depicting the city. The main line of the study is the list of names of the catering firms and personal names printed in bold arranged in alphabetical order. The present street-name and house number of the building connected to them follows this list. The words put in inverted commas contain the names, streetrnames and house numbers used in the studied period, which provide help in following the changes occurred. The sign 'Vízkor' (at the time of the Flood) refers to the inventory carried out at time of the great flood destroying the city in 1879.
