KOMOLY Pál: A szegedi ágostai hitvallású evangélikus egyházközség története 1836-1821

PÁL KOMOLY THE HISTORY OF THE LOCAL LUTHERAN CHURCH OF THE AUGUSTAN CONFESSION IN SZEGED (1836-1921) The author has compiled his work in his usual style, based on an impressive wealth of archival sources and press materials. Despite the rather limited length of his study, he has examined practically all aspects in the life of this local church, in short, the history of the Lutheran church. He takes into account the pastors and the teachers in the church. He briefly talks about the school and the instruction, looks at the wage of the employees of the church, and the situation of the type of communal buildings around it and their establishment. In a separate section, he looks at the church rituals and the implements used in service (vessels, various objects), the order and the vocabulary of the worship and the moral condition of the church. He did not neglect the condition of the archive, while in a separate section, he looks at the midwives who were employed by the church. The development of the financial situation and the accounting of the church is discussed in a similarly natural way. The cemetery is also a significant activity carried out by the church. The construction of the Lutheran church, and the design and building processes are examined meticulously. The present work of the author is very important, since it covers an area which has not yet received the attention it deserves. The archival documents used here are available. We are sorry that the author could not live to see the publication of his final piece of work. We hope that it will serve as an appropriate example for the younger generation and will hopefully find followers.
