KATKÓNÉ BAGI Éva: Pusztaszeri gazdaságok a politika béklyójában

ÉVA BAGI KATKÓNÉ AGRICULTURE AT PUSZTASZER DURING THE 20TH CENTURY Our dissertation illustrates the life of those new-age conquerors who leased pasture land from the town of Kecskemét in the middle of the 19th century, ploughed and cultivated it, and founded an era of prosperous agricultural production. At the turn of the 20th century the town of Kecskemét sold off the lands it held at Pusztaszer, and almost 50-60 owners came into possession of an area of almost 4295 hectares. The owners of this land were of the middle peasantclass, which then represented the majority of residents. Community life continued to progress, and from the year 1934 we are talking about an independent village. In the 1950's agricultural co-operatives occupied these lands, demonstrating the destructive effects of centralisation, which led to the cessation of the smallholder class.
