D: Gáspár Zoltánnak / igaz szeretettel / Ortutay Gyula The Network of Zoltán Gáspár's Literary Connections A historical-sociological analysis of the stock of dedicated books in his library András Lengyel The study is aimed at reconstructing the network of literary connections maintained by the last editor of Szép Szó, Zoltán Gáspár (1901-1945). The analysis is based on the set of inscriptions dedicated to Gáspár and found in Gáspár's library. The inscriptions place him, as it were, in the center of an egocentric network by delineating a system of connections. The number of inscriptions contributed by each writer throw light on the strength and firmness of a connection. The analysis runs in a historical-sociological vein, and also makes resort to previous perceptions and data from the history of literature related to the members of the said network. The present work depicts the members of the reconstructed network also as members of an orientational community „gathering" around Gáspár and appearing interrelated with him. In this way, conclusions with relevance to the history of mentality and thinking are also formulated in the study. 40
