The recollections of János Dicső of his years spent in the „Great War"

János Dicső was born on February 27th, 1896 in Szeged-Alsóközpont. The family rented hundreds of acres of land from the town. There were six siblings, four boys and two girls. He was the youngest. He completed four grades in elementary school. They operated a farm. In 1916 he was

conscripted to be a soldier in Debrecen. He left for the Russian front from here. He became a POW during the time of the Brusilov Offensive. Due to his illness he was treated in Ust-Kamenogorsk. He managed to get home in December of 1920 under adventurous circumstances.
